METHODIST: A Brand Plucked from the Burning
Duration: 9 nights/10 days

Day 1
Arrive London Gatwick orHeathrow and transfer to your central London hotel. Rest and relax. Plan an early dinner.
Day 2
Morning visit to the Welsey Chapel, John Wesley's tomb, John Wesley's House and the Museum of World Methodism, followed by a late morning visit to St Paul's Cathedral. After lunch a visit to Central Hall and Westminster Abbey to see the plaque of John and Charles Wesley. Evening at leisure.

Day 3
Depart for Oxford to see Lincoln and Christchurch Colleges. Free time before touring through Pilgrim Fathers' country to Lincoln (1 night).
Day 4
Morning visit to Lincoln Cathedral, to see the Wesley window in the Chapter House, before heading for Epworth to visit the Old Rectory, the Parish Church, the Wesley Memorial Church, and the Red Lion Inn where John Wesley stayed. Northwards then to York to visit the Minster. Overnight York.
Day 5
To Heptonstall in Calderdale, to see the Methodist octagonal chapel, the preacher's house and nearby Todmorden Edge Farm (the site of the first Methodist Quarterly meeting). On to Chester, to see the cathedral, Roman walls, and discover its Methodist links. Overnight Chester.
Day 6
To the Ironbridge Gorge, a World Heritage Site, with numerous Methodist links and six museums. After lunch, to Wednesbury (famous for the Wednesbury riots of 1743-44, when Wesley almost lost his life). Next to The Black Country Museum, to see the Methodist Chapel set in an award-winning re-creation of a bygone age, where the sights, sounds and characters of the area are vividly brought to life. Overnight Sandwell.
Day 7
Morning visit to Bishop Asbury's Cottage. Then via the Severn Valley to Worcester to see Worcester Cathedral, before reaching Gloucester for a guided tour of the sites connected with George Whitefield. Continue to Bristol (2 nights).
Day 8
Morning “Birthplace of America” tour of the city including a visit to John Wesley's Chapel (The New Room) - the first Methodist chapel built by John Wesley, situated on the Broadmead. Afternoon at leisure either in Bristol or in nearby Bath.
Day 9
To Salisbury, Bishop Francis Asbury's last circuit before leaving for America. After visiting the cathedral, via Stonehenge and back to London. Evening at leisure.
Day 10
Airport transfers and independent extensions.
METHODIST: John Wesley in the West Country

Day 1
Arrive London and transfer to Salisbury. Rest and relax. Mid-afternoon guided stroll of this glorious city with a visit to the Methodist Chapel, Bishop Asbury's last circuit before leaving for America in 1771. Enjoy an early supper and overnight Salisbury.
Day 2

Depart Salisbury traveling via Stonehenge and Exeter, pausing in Plymouth, embarkation point for the Pilgrim Fathers, to Trewint for a visit to Wesley's Cottage (Diggory Isbell's Cottage), an 18th century cottage refurbished in contemporary style, where Wesley and his preachers both stayed and preached. On then to Altarnun for a visit to the church where the Isbell's family are buried. Continue to Port Isaac to see the Platt where John Wesley preached. Continue on to Penzance (2 nights).
Day 3
To Gwennap Pit, where John Wesley preached on eighteen occasions, and the Museum of Cornish Methodism which contains a collection of Wesleyan artifacts. This afternoon we head for St Ives, a mining center in 1743 and Wesley's first objective in Cornwall. Late afternoon return via Land's End to Penzance.
Day 4
Depart Cornwall, perhaps crossing over forbidding Dartmoor, to Glastonbury to discover more about the myths and legends of Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail and King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. On then to the lovely cathedral at Wells before reaching Bristol (2 nights).
Day 5
Morning 'Birthplace of America' tour of Bristol, including a visit to the New Room, the oldest licensed place of Methodist worship (1739). The box pews date back to the 19th century and the upstairs rooms contain a museum and furnished rooms, where preachers lived and worked, including one dedicated to Francis Asbury. Afternoon at leisure in Bath.
Day 6
Depart Bristol for Gloucester, famous not only for its beautiful cathedral, but also as the home of George Whitefield, one of the most famous preachers of his time. Whitefield was to become closely connected with the Wesleys when he was admitted into the Holy Club in 1735. On then to Sandwell for a visit to the home of Francis Bishop Asbury. He lived in this tiny cottage for a number of years before braving the Atlantic to become the first Bishop of the American Methodist movement. Overnight Sandwell.
Day 7
Morning service at the Great Barr Methodist Church before continuing to Warwick Castle. On then to Oxford for a guided tour of the city, where John and Charles Wesley spent about 20 of the most formative years of their lives. Overnight London (3 nights).
Day 8
Morning city tour to include a visit to Wesley's Chapel, Wesley's tomb, the Museum of World Methodism and John Wesley's House. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure in London.
Day 9
Full day at leisure in London.
Day 10
Airport transfers and independent extensions.

Arrive Manchester, where we will meet and escort you across the Pennines to the cathedral city of Lincoln, pausing on the way to see the octagonal chapel and preacher’s house at Heptonstall and nearby Todmorden Edge Farm, the site of the first Methodist Quarterly meeting. Overnight Lincoln (1 night).
Sunday
Morning worship at Epworth, birthplace of John and Charles Wesley. Depending on how long you stay there, we could include a visit to magnificent Warwick Castle on your way to Stratford (1 night).
Monday
Morning visit to Bishop Asbury’s Cottage, before a guided tour of the Gloucester sites associated with George Whitefield. A tour of the spectacular cathedral should be included. On then to Bristol (1 night).
Tuesday
Morning ‘Birthplace of America’ tour, which includes the Charles Wesley Centre and the New Room. Turning east, a panoramic tour of Bath, and so to Salisbury (1 night) for a special evening in the cathedral city.
Wednesday
Morning tour of the glorious Salisbury Cathedral

and then via Stonehenge, and into London.
Thursday
Morning city tour to include a visit to Wesley’s Chapel, Wesley’s tomb, the Museum of World Methodism and John Wesley’s House. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Final evening at leisure, or at the theatre, perhaps.
